We assess with high confidence that CopyCop — also tracked as Storm-1516 — represents the first fully industrialised model of AI-driven narrative warfare: a Russian covert influence network that has used self-hosted, uncensored open-source language models to stand up over 300 fictional "news" websites in roughly a year, disguised as local newspapers, political movements, and even fact-checking organisations across the United States, France, Canada, Germany, Armenia, and Moldova. Its purpose is not to win any single argument but to flood the information environment until authentic and synthetic news become indistinguishable.
